Stirling Castle

Ventured to Stirling today - a place I’ve never been to.

Not only was the weather rubbish, when we got to the castle gates, we couldn’t go in as you had to have pre-booked tickets (which we didn’t have). Rather than having a three hour wait for the next available slot, we about turned and walked back to the town passing some lovely old buildings on the way.

Earlier, we went to the Bannockburn visitor centre (free entry with our NT membership, yay!) but alas, we didn’t have pre-booked tickets for this one either.
Pre-booking tickets is clearly a new post-Covid thing.
We were however allowed in to the shop/cafe area and allowed to visit the outdoor stuff.
Saw a huge statue of Robert The Bruce (blood thirsty Scottish warrior) who shares a middle name with Pooh Bear (as in Winnie…..) but that’s about where the similarities end, lol!

Meandered our way to Fife to stay with my dad.
On the way, we stopped off at North Queensferry where you end up quite literally under the magnificent Forth Bridge. Too close to take a decent photo of the bridge apart from a ‘looking up’ shot.
Nice view of the Forth Road Bridge and the Queensferry Crossing.

Nice day though a tad damp.
