Sgwarnog: In the Field

Hexagons

It’s been a while since I’ve done a drainspotting blip. This fine example, all the better for a reasonably local makers mark, is adorning a street in Ilkley, not too far from Betty’s.

By shape and situation I’d usually have said this was a coal hole cover, but the ornamental translucent glass hexagons suggest a need to shed light on whatever is below and that’s not something I usually associate with coal bunkers.

It was a rainy afternoon but the kids and I enjoyed an excursion out to Ilkley on the train.
