Homeward Bound.

We have had a lovely week in North Wales. We have rekindled some old memories and created new ones. Today we reluctantly set off for home and rounded off our holiday with a visit to the Centre for Alternative Technologies ( CATs). This is a visitor centre set up in the 70s by a group keen to see if there were ways to live cheaply and ethically without spoiling the planet. This included different housebuilding methods, alternative power sources and composting and veg growing etc. It now has university status and includes a mountain train than runs on transferring weight between two carriages using water power. A lot of the original ideas are now mainstream thinking such as solar panels and bio fuel. We had taken our own children here 30 years ago and this time we were there with our grandchildren. As you can see from the photo, they enjoyed the play area.
Grateful today for the culmination of a lovely holiday, for revisiting old memories and for a safe journey home.
