Day in Lytham via Blackpool prom

Today we were supposed to go to the Grayson Perry exhibition in Manchester (it was sold out and we had tickets. . . Dilemma). My mate has already been to it but during a last minute discussion we decided spending the day in the sunshine on the beach was preferable.

Only walked 7 and a half miles which was ok considering how much other travel we did. This is taken from the top deck (aka greenhouse) of a bus heading towards the south pier (you can see it in the distance). I’m not too keen on the central or south piers as they are always so busy but it was good to see what was going on in the busy, tourist end of town.

We went to Lytham today and trawled around the charity’s shops briefly before having a decent walk on the vast beach. It was amazing how great the sand was, very powdery and golden. I had a Black Forest gateaux and blackcurrant and clotted cream Ice cream, it was delicious!

Tonight I’ll be enjoying a range of home cooked tapas again which I think suits the very warm weather.

It was odd to see the illumination guys starting to put some bulbs out today, it’s not too long till they’ll be lit again.
