See you Jimmy

The article the other day by Sir Billy Connolly about being asked to tone down his accent when first on TV, coincided with a story from our son this weekend.

He’d been in London helping friends move house. Before catching the train back north he went into a pub for some food. He asked a family if he could sit at the end of the long table and they agreed happily.

He went to order his food and when he came back one of the boys asked whether he supported Hearts or Hibs. He asked why those teams?

They replied: we knew you were Scottish from when you asked to sit down. As we could understand you we assumed you were from Edinburgh!!

As I cannot readily find our CU Jimmy hat - we do have one - the tartan will have to do.
