Harrogate

Recce trip to Harrogate with friend and fellow Blipper Corinthian ahead of a Bus Pass Walkers trip in September.   3 buses taken - good connections.  A wander around town and as we were heading to our hotel a security guard outside the Royal Hall spoke to us and mentioned that the hall was open for people to look around.  Popped inside and what a beautiful venue - lots of gold and cream in the auditorium, and Art Deco elsewhere in the building - a beautiful and interesting place (photos of the interior and ceiling in the collage).  We then checked into our hotel and set off out to walk through Valley Gardens (lovely dahlias in the collage) and up through the woodlands to Harlow Carr. Sussed out the bus back to town.  My credit card didn’t work on the bus at first and the jovial driver said I could travel free and just pretend I was Corinthian’s carer if an inspector got on!  :-)).  We checked out a few venues for possible meals on the future trip and then went for liquid refreshments at Wetherspoons which is just above the Turkish Baths and an imposing building.  Looked for somewhere to eat and found a steakhouse for tea.  Missed the early bird menu bumpy minutes, but one course was fine and our choices of spicy Mexican food were good and filling.  A couple of drinks in the hotel bar to complete the evening.
