Bus pass walk

Apparently today is my 5 year Blipday, although I’ve actually blipped intermittently since 2013!  :-)) 5 different buses taken today - with good connections.  Walked along a lovely part of the canal towpath -after being overtaken by several cyclists and runners the towpath became quiet again and there were some good reflections.  A garden full of sunflowers caught my eye - the householder seemed pleased that we liked them. Got a cheery wave from a chap working on a building project on a very steep plot on the other side of the canal, and from a family on a narrowboat, and spoke to another householder looking for his dogs which were lying like statues at the edge of the canal.  Friendly folk around here! Saw the heron flying down the canal, but missed that shot - he was watching the water intently as we passed him further along. Walked across Keighley golf course and into Utley Cemetery - a good look round this fascinating place, and with lots of geese flying overhead.  A chap with a dog tried to entice us to look at “Sharp’s grave” (I thought he meant the TV manufacturer!).  The men in our group went with him and it was a very detailed headstone about an old soldier who had been a landlord at a local pub, and fought in the wars on which the TV series Sharpe is based.  Buses back to Bingley where for a change we had lunch at The Lounge.  Very nice, although they are struggling with staff shortages so having to run a restricted menu and warn about waiting times.  Felt for them as apparently some customers have been quite abusive!  We didn’t have that long to wait, and saw a few people from the village for a chat.  Nice walk and company as always.  :-)
