Adam's birthday

Firstly, thank you for placing my image of the Jöriseen glacial lakes at number one on the popular page, that has not happened to one of my images for a while. If you would like to see more images of that spectacular hike, you can see them here.

Today is Adam's birthday. In fact it is what we always call the 'birthday weekend' in our family as we have two birthdays, two days apart, and they nearly always fall over the bank holiday weekend. Adam, Pip and Luke started the day by going to the gym, while Meriel stayed home and made pancakes for a birthday brunch for Adam. You can see the delicious spread for the brunch in the last extra photo.

Adam chose to go to the indoor swimming pool in Davos after brunch. As children they used to loved going there, (and that has not changed), as there are a series of swimming pools - a lap pool with a section that has very high diving boards, a fun pool with covered slide into it, and a very hot pool that is inside and outside, usually the main attraction when there is snow lying on the ground outside. While they young adults were at the pool Gavin and I went for coffee in Davos and then had a walk around the lake.

We had a light lunch in Davos before coming home. The boys then went and played golf (in fact they have played golf every afternoon this week as it is only a 9 hole course, but quite challenging, so it does not take long). I took Xena for a walk when I took this image, this is one of my favourite barn houses. There are still lovely wild flowers around so late in the summer season. Adam had a cracking round of golf, a suitable top score for the birthday boy. We are going out for supper tonight to celebrate his birthday, so his celebrations continue.

I am getting sad at the thought of our holiday ending, we all go home on Monday. It has been so lovely to spend time with the boys and their girlfriends, we don't always have the opportunity to do that. Our days here have been busy with no down time, but it has been very special. I have a very busy time when I get back to the UK with all sorts of things happening in September - but for now I won't think about that!
