Hike to Seetalhütte

The weather was still bright and sunny today, although much cooler. We decided to hike to Seetalhütte, the walk that Gavin did last week when I was ill with my tummy bug. It entailed a 14km cycle to Alp Sardasca, ascending from the village which lies at 1179 m above sea level to 1650m, an incline of 471m. We all had e-bikes which makes such a difference, its a very difficult cycle with manual bikes. Only Gavin, Luke, Meriel and I went as Adam has the most awful blister wounds on his heels and cannot wear shoes without incurring pain, so he and Pip went into the village and relaxed today.

When they did this walk last week, Xena unfortunately ran into an electric fence and she squealed in pain for what seemed a long while. On the cycle up there today, she started shaking so much that we were worried she was ill, until we realised that she had remembered this unfortunate event. We made sure she kept well away from the fences today and she was fine once we were hiking.

At Alp Sardasca we parked the bikes and then started the hike, another ascent of 415m up to Seetalhütte at 1650m. It also has a lovely lake that is a good turquoise colour from the glacier, but it was so windy and cold up there with no sunshine on the water.

It was another good day out with plenty of exercise. When we got back I helped Pip bake a cake for Adam's birthday tomorrow, and then we had to make supper. I find I have little time to do anything else, it is very busy with everyone here - but very enjoyable. Tommy and Inca are enjoying the Lake District and climbed Scarfell Pike today

Thank you so much for all the hearts on yesterday's image, it is very much appreciated.
