Building Detail

The corner tower of my current favourite building. It's the detail in it that I really like. I could look at it for hours if it wasn't for that restraining order....*

Today was blighted by trying to do something simple. This weekend we have one the three major implementations that take place in my company this year. That means I have to work from home tomorrow morning. And to do that I needed to get a PIN so that my computer can access my work network.

I won't go into detail but let's just say that something that should be as easy, quick and automatic as clicking on a link that says "PIN please" turned into yet another of those "this-should-be-easy-but-we-made-it-stupid-and-the-only-person-who-loses-time-is-you-Peter". There are numerous examples in my journal and I'm not pleased to add this one to it.

What should really have taken one-click-and-there's-a-PIN was a 2 and a half hour, telephone and E-Mail debacle. I'm pretty sure I could write an app to do that. or a Java class. or even a REXX.

Yesterday's song in German was Rihanna's "Umbrella". Today's lyric has a deliberate mistake in it and I apologise for it. I had to use "Katzenjammer" because otherwise it's a bit of a giveaway. And "Katzenjammer" is wrong.
