Living my dream

Duck Off

Spring is heralded by two pairs of Paradise Shelduck who vie for the best spot in the macrocarpa trees for egg-laying.

They arrive at the property early each morning, assume high positions, and then proceed to shout at each other.

This pair are honking and bellowing from atop what used to be a platform for solar panels. See the first extra for a longer view of their position.

The other pair were on the ground, right underneath last year’s most popular nesting tree, next to the shipping container / cool store. See the second extra for them.

Jeaniebean stood between the warring pairs staring from one to the other, apparently unable to decide what to do. Eventually she shrugged, gave up and came to me for a pat.
