The gorse is fully out and the air is filled with its beautiful coconut-vanilla aroma. That and the glorious colour of the flowers are the the only good things about it.

Gorse in NZ is a pest plant. It was originally introduced as stock hedging, but it has spread far and wide out-competing native plants.

Thank you so much for the avalanche of love and admiration for Bean yesterday.

Today has been a humdrum day by comparison. I’ve been gardening at K’s and then Chez Mima. The sun has shone, Bean has sun baked and the day has passed too fast.
