Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Douglas Squirrel

More energetic today.    Made a “to do” list.   Did a little bit of it.   We thought there was no-one at the closest  neighbors but when we walked by, their relatives  (that we have known for years) were there so insisted we have a coffee and a chat.  Unexpected.  Very nice folks.  Then we walked up the hill from the”orchard site” which is getting cleaned up (extra) with big piles that will be burned..(later when one can burn). Our trail up the “steps” beyond is intact, but I didn’t go there.
A tiny bit of cleaning out and painting one chair.  Then I had a sit to watch the bird feeders.  the most entertaining was this Douglas Squirrel running back and forth back and forth.  Named after the Scots botanist David Douglas who spent a lot of time in the PNW collecting specimens.   I had put some old stale unsalted nuts on a rock…This was the only bite and they were rejected for the leftover sunflower seeds from the birds which he kept collecting under 2 feeders.   Only saw chickadees, nuthatches, a junco, a downy woodpecker and a ruby throated hummingbird.
Cloudy and cool today but no rain....
