Stuff and Nonsense

Willow Tit #78

The hides at Pennington Flash have been closed since March 2020 and about two weeks ago, after much badgering by locals, they finally opened again. Apart from the Bunting Hide, which is where the woodland birds are fed, the other hides are in great need of some environment management. The areas in front of the hides are very overgrown as you would imagine, and the islands and edges of all the water is not really visible in many places, so seeing waders is almost impossible.
Nevertheless, we spent about an hour in Bunting hide watching the nuthatches, robins,  finches and tits flit about from branch to branch.
There were a couple of willow tits around and I managed to get this shot of one of them on the side of a table, but it's not great as it's looking in the wrong direction. We had to relinquish our corner when others turned up as we'd been there quite a while and it was getting a bit crowded (and of course nobody was wearing masks apart from us!)
I think I need to concentrate on birds now we are getting towards the autumn - my target of blipping 100 species per year is hopefully still achievable. I've got quite a few common birds to photograph yet, so fingers crossed I should manage it.
