Sunflowers But No Sun

I met H this morning and we did the lovely Bayfield Bird Walk and had a drink at the end. Again no sun and very cold all day, despite the forecast being for full sun this afternoon. So I thought I'd post these cheery sunflowers. I've also posted a mono of hay bales, I liked all the shapes and lines. Well done to Dame Sarah Storey in getting her 16th gold medal today, a fabulous achievement.

A fantastic 5 set match between Murray and Tsitsipas last night on Day 1 of the US Open, with Tsitsipas winning the controversial match. He took long bathroom breaks and medical time outs at key points and was clearly abusing the rules and being unsportsmanlike. But Murray was letting this get to him and getting angry, which adversely affected his game, plus he was bullying to his team, swearing and generally having a tantrum. It was really good, however, to see Andy playing and moving really well and being a significant threat to a top player.

Day 533 / Day 44 of Step 4 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
The JCVI has still not made a final decision on giving a third jab. My surgery starts booking tomorrow for flu jabs, it's not fair on them and their management of logistics that there's no decision yet if another jab will be given, to whom, which one, and whether to do it at the same time as the flu jab, especially as the NHS has been expecting to do this from 6th Sept. You couldn't make this up - the regulator in the US has had to issue a warning to people NOT to take a drug to 'treat Covid' which is used on horses to prevent them getting parasites. What possesses people not to get the vaccine as they think it's too risky and instead take a horse dewormer!!! Several people have ended up in hospital as a result. Israel has reported its highest ever number of daily Covid cases even though it's in the process of giving our third jabs. Scotland's clinical director has said the country might need a 'reverse gear' on people's freedoms due to the record and rising cases. A Centre of Excellence and training facility specialising in mRNA technology (used by Pfizer and Moderna) is to open in Darlington in November.
