35% broken

What is an acceptable level of breakage when you order online and pay for delivery? I would have thought 35% was a bit over the odds but that's what happened yesterday.

We had ordered 28 pavers from a large hardware chain. They are intended for a small job of replacing a somewhat dangerous short path to one of our back gates.

We had been waiting for a while and were pleased when we heard they were on their way. The guy who delivered quickly noticed that a couple were broken. He pointed out that they had slid off the pallet as he traveled. It seems that the 'gladwrap' wasn't up to the job. Who would have thought? Anyway, after nearly taking out one hedge, and then the other, he lowered the pallet and I carried them, one at a time, closer to the path. I found that in fact 10 out of the 28 were broken!!  35.71%!! Not good enough!

The hardware store was apologetic and promised to have 10 replacement pavers delivered today - in a smaller truck. They also finally agreed to take away the pallet. At 4.15pm today, when they hadn't arrived I rang the hardware store. More apologies - the pavers hadn't been put on the truck today. They are now coming on Monday. It's just as well we didn't have a deadline for their delivery. Covid is teaching us patience although I don't think Covid can be blamed for this one.
