The Garden of England

J and I drove down to Dungeness today after a tour of the allotment - Kent lived up to its name - and we came away with a car load of produce.
Dungeness- a bleak, remote feeling place - with a bird reserve and a nuclear power station. Land of sea cabbage and pebble beaches - and these beautiful small copper butterflies. I do love butterflies faces. We visited Derek Jarmans garden before heading off to Winchelsea, a village with a pub, a huge church with amazing stain glass windows, a shop,a museum and a well - and some beautiful buddleia bushes full of butterflies. On to Fairlight Cove which we failed to find! then a lovely walk at Rye Harbour - wonderful seascapes, redshanks and seals. I’ve put a montage of the day in extras
And just for the record the clafoutis/flognarde was delicious
