Backblip: Further wanderings

Another challenging day and another need for a speedy reassessment.

Things started badly when we stopped at t he AutoRoute Services for breakfast but couldn't park anywhere. The "Caravan" spaces were full of cars and there was even a car on the Motorhome Service point. People were parking haphazardly, anywhere they could squeeze in but there was no room for us. We got out of Dodge quickly.

We were heading to Quarré-Les-Tombes, where we have stayed before. We would have gone to the France Passion at an Auberge out of town but they don't serve meals on a Sunday night and are closed on Monday too. We decided to go into town and stay on the Municipal aire and try out the restaurant across the road, it has an excellent reputation. We organised matters such as to arrive during lunch service so that we might enquire about an evening booking.

We found further haphazard parking and more cars in motorhome spaces. It wasn't very Dusty-friendly. We sat and debated whether or not it would improve after lunch... whether it might fill up even further in the evening. I suggested that we let Fate take a hand - if we could get a table e would stay, if not we would move on. The restaurant door bore a sign "Complet, Midi et Soir".

We moved on quickly to the nearest CCP. Well, not all that quickly, it was another case of tortuous roads belying the crow flight estimate. In the end we fetched up at a quiet canal side spot in what appeared to be quite an interesting village. We shopped at the adjacent TI office and I looked forward to exploring in the morning.
