Friday off!

Mr S had his day off on Friday this week, so I decided to have a day off too. Firstly, we went to look at a company who insulate shipping containers, to see if this would be something for the overland truck. It wouldn’t be, so that is crossed off the list, we will look more into the alternatives.
We had a look around Winterthur, a great living city with a huge market in the old town on a Friday, and had a coffee. Our son headed back home on the train, we carried on to Appenzell, a very twee touristy town, famous, for cheese, Appenzeller liquor, needle work, cow bells and beer. Had a walk around, then lunch, then headed to our campsite at Eischen, about 1000m up. Found a solute with a great view, but the tent field was on quite a slope. After a rest, reading and enjoying a view, we headed out for a little hike. We headed up on to the ridge behind which had lovely views of the Säntis mountains. It was mainly farmland, the farmers taking advantage of the fabulous weather to bring in another batch of hay. Part of the ridge was a lovely forest with bog and mossland, and lots of bilberry bushes.
We were on the way for about 2.5 hours, did 350 metres of ascent, and about 7km walk. Back at the tent we shared a small beer, then after a shower went for dinner at the campsite restaurant, and what a fabulous meal it was, and an amazing dining room with a superb view.
After dinner we sat out enjoying our million star hotel, and also spotted one shooting star.
