Grey Heron

Here is a grey heron in flight - yes, you spotted that, I know.

Went out with honourable sons N°1 & N°2 and although they tried to creep around stealthily in the undergrowth, the three of us made too much noise - and of course they are not apaches like me ... not yet anyway.

So we saw quite a bit of wildlife, but mostly as it was taking flight.

The French name for this bird is Héron Cendré - literally ashy heron - some of you may have heard the word 'cendré' before - especially in connection with goat's cheeses from the area around Tours (Le Loire et Cher department) and Poitiers (la Vienne departement) and The Loire et Cher department.
