Autumn lady's-tresses

It's been a lovely warm and sunny day so I went to Llanymynech Rocks to look for Autumn lady's tresses. They're very difficult to spot as they're small and very well camouflaged against the grass.

I was very luck that the Wildlife Trust wild flower recording group were there and pointed out the ones that they'd found.  That saved me a long time hunting them down!

They're a type of orchid and their flowers grow in a spiral around the stem hence their name.  Apparently they're quite common in the south of the country but not so up here.

I'm off to a music session tonight so an early blip.
