Canal Day 4: Terrapin

Well, this was another first for me: seeing a terrapin in the canal!

As the day went on we became increasingly worried about our throttle handle becoming sloppy. The last thing we would want was to get onto the river Weaver and be without power.

Blippers who have followed my canal journeys down the years will know that breakdowns of one form or another are not unusual for us.

We had booked a place on the Anderton Lift Bridge to lower us onto the Weaver and we now thought we wouldn't make it in time. After much debate we settled down for the night intending to ring boatyards for help tomorrow morning.

I couldn't resist a heron shot for Extras, my first heron shot of the trip.
