EARLY AUTUMN

A few maple trees are turning on their resplendent color for the fall season. It will not peak for another 6 weeks but the process moves on inexorably.

One of the first hints of fall is cool morning temperatures (today it was 53°F - 12°C approx.) but the blue waters of Big Elkhart Lake are still warm which provides perfect conditions for mist to form on the water's surface. It will last until the ambient air temperature equals that of the lake water...then condensation will stop.

The same situation will occur as the ice warms in the Springtime only the opposite is true...the ice is cold but the air is warm. Mist still forms until the water temperature equals the ambient air temperature and then condensation stops.

Best in Large.
