May I Take Your Coat?

We drove a long way out into the country where there are miles and miles of farms and orchards just beginning to flower--imagine how wonderful it is to be able to experience that sentence: miles and miles of farms! Thankfully that landscape still exists. The occasion was Sheep to Shawl, an educational afternoon at a 75 acre organic working farm that is also committed to teaching sustainable agricultural practices and connecting people to the sources of their food. There were demos of shearing, wool carding, spinning, dyeing and weaving; lots of kids running around petting the sheep and making things out of little bits of wool; and rows and rows of fruit trees and vegetables up and down the gentle hills.
