The New Lagoon

A week ago our amusement park was in danger of flooding from the heavy rain--not a huge surprise if you build on land that is the natural river mouth--and men and machines were scrambling to the rescue. This morning when I stopped to peer over the fence at the top of the cliff, I got to see the final product of all their efforting; the river now flows more or less straight into the sea again, but there is still quite a large new lake right up against the retaining wall. And though our beach walk has been shortened considerably, the sands change daily and it will be interesting to see how long it takes before this all changes again.
