Down by the Waterside

Considering the weather forecast was for rain and thunderstorms today we've actually had a very good day, with most of it spent outside. The rain didn't occur, at least not where we were.

This morning we went to Barnsdale Gardens for a morning drink and toast at their café. A friendly young robin was hopping around the table waiting for crumbs until a lady on a nearby table dropped some cake crumbs.

From there we decided to go back to Normanton to have a walk and take another look at the church.  Whilst we were there Ann spotted an egret by the coast.  It was quite a way off but I managed to get some shots and put a couple together for tonight's blip.

Later after sitting admiring the views for an hour or so we took the pretty way home and sat in the garden, relieved that the forecast downpour didn't occur.

This is our last night in Rutland.  I had not realised what a beautiful place it is.  Not just the reservoir and surrounds, but the countryside, lovely villages and narrow lanes.  Certainly it has been added to my list of places to return too.
