Marquess of Londonderry at Night

The weekend is here... Bout time!

This is the horse statue in the market place in Durham. When we were kids me and my mates would meet up in Durham and this was always the meeting point. They took if down and cleaned if up a couple of year ago. Personally I preferred it in a mouldy green colour as it had more character. They also moved it further up the market place and faced it the opposite way.

The statue is of the Marquess of Londonderry, he owned a lot of the coal mines in and around Durham and also commissioned the building of Seaham Harbour. The statue was originally put up in 1861, although its had a few repairs since then.

Hope you like...
