If you can't beat them...

Strange Wildlife.

As we boated along in the sun we spotted this individual.  Terrapins aren't native wildlife so what was it doing sitting here beside the Trent and Mersey canal?   Answer: irresponsible pet owns buy them when they are small and cute, when the grow they are less attractive and are dumped in a nearby waterway.  Fortunately they don't breed in this country ...... yet!  Heaven knows what might happen with global warming.

We woke to a very misty morning, I know the metriologists think September 1st is the start of Autumn but it feels a bit early for the "season of mists and mellow fruitfulness".  We have been having problems with the "Teleflex" gear/throttle control so we pulled into a boatyard.  After a little wait we had a very nice gentleman who sorted that problem, tightened the steern gland and adjusted the altternator belt.

We now felt safe to head for the Anderton Lift.  Sadly it was closed for repair but we had hopes for the enxt day.Phone calls from CRT did not make the situation sound hopeful.  Still feeling hopeful we rounded the day off with a nice meal and Whisky on the "well deck" (See Clickychick's extra).
