A baptism of…

We met two blokes on the hill outside our house. It’s the first time they’d tried cycling with camping kit. A hill with 25% and then 33% was a baptism of thigh fire. There was a bit of blame culture going on but they were good humoured and not too far from Whitby. This hill had finished them off - they’d already done plenty coming from York. As we left them, almost out of ear shot, one said to the other, “Is this why they’re called push bikes?”

This is home for the week - Rich failed to tell me we were part way up one of the 'Another 100 Classic Climbs' (inbetween the 25 and the 33) which may well pose a few challenges! We’re hoping to take it in turns to do some short cycling circuits while the other chills out with Little Dog and then do a little exploring.

Think we saw a merlin fly out of the trees on arrival and the outdoor light is a moth magnet. Lovely start!
