Little monkeys

Ella fell asleep quickly last night but Nathaniel was still playing with his football cards at 9.45 and they were awake at 6.30. We let them play Tom Gold Run on our iPads. (Don’t ask. Don’t tell mum.)

After breakfast we stopped off at the sweetie shop. I had no idea there wasn’t much to buy for 50p each nowadays. Apparently thruppence is no longer legal currency. In the end they had a 25p lollipop and got some sherbet pips weighed out.

We went to Cragside where they investigated some of the new climbing stuff in the adventure playground before deciding they’d like to go round the trim trail. This is Nathaniel aged 7 (the Coastguard rescue boy) on the monkey bars. They were surprised how much more they could do compared with their last visit before Covid. We had a picnic then at the end of the trim trail they headed into the labyrinth. True to form we got lost - we didn’t even find the central hut - but finally made our way out along way along Crozier Drive. Ella was desperate for the loo so she and I rushed the 1.5 miles back. Phew. A relief.

Once back here we played monopoly till Nathaniel got bored (he was raking in the cash) so he went back to his football cards. Mr C had a snooze while Ella and I carried on till it was time for them to go home.

Hopefully they’ll be tired and go to bed earlier tonight. We walked over 4 miles in Cragside plus they did a lot of physical work on the trim trail.

There’s no progress in recovery for their parents yet.
