"There's a raft spider!"

Yesterday F and I went on a Wildlife Trust guided walk on Whixall Moss.  It's a place that we visit regularly so know it well but there's nothing like going with an expert!

We saw a hobby and kestral plus butterflies and black darter dragonflies.  The photo is of our leader pointing out a raft spider on a leaf (I've only ever seen them on the ponds before).  There were some leaf beetles that had been thought to be extinct but had turned up on Th Moss.

There were lots of interesting bog plants too such as sundew, common bog rosemary (that is apparently a rare one), sphagnum moss and many more.

The extra is a collage of some of the interesting creatures - raft spider, leaf beetle and an orb weaver spider that looks like a face.

I also found out about the cooperative spiders from the other day - they would have been a male and female.
