Wound up in Wexford

Kittens in the oak tree

Our neighbours decided, when they acquired Tequila, that they wanted a litter of kittens before they had her neutered.  So during the winter and early spring, we had to listen to her yowling whilst she was on heat.  Eventually, she managed to find herself a tom, and produced a litter of 6 kittens on 16th April.  Our neighbours kept 2 - here seen in our oak tree - and found homes for the other 4.

Wesley is the white and ginger, Winnie is mainly white, with some black and brown - basically a "mini-Tequila" but with more white.  They are not yet 6 months old, so still awaiting chips and "the chop".  Our neighbours have been trying to keep them in their own garden, but that is difficult when there is no barrier to exploration, and our garden is so exciting, with lots of hiding places and things to climb.

Tequila, meanwhile, when taken to be neutered in July, turned out to be already "heavily pregnant" with another litter!  And on 10th August another litter (of 9!!!) arrived.  They are still confined to the house - as is Tequila until she gets her op.

In extras, our main job for today - cutting down the meadow - so at least the kittens have fewer hiding places now!  The cuttings will be left on the meadow for a week or so to drop all their seeds, before being raked up.
