Dunnikier Woods

Although it is just on the edge of town, I haven't visited Dunnikier Woods since April.

I have tried to capture a little of the atmosphere of the place. Some areas of tall trees but with spaces that let the light through. Ground cover in the darkest corners mostly consists of ferns.

This woodland was 'managed' a couple of years back.  Many trees were felled and more spaces were opened up along with the removal of rhododendrons.  At the time, some locals thought it was a terrible destruction of habitat but two years on I think it has provided a more diverse range of ecosystems.
