Pebbles

We had a leisurely start and stopped at Auchmithie, site of an old harbour. The old harbour is in a poor state. It has been battered by the sea and the walls have almost collapsed. There's not a lot remaining, but it's an interesting place.

Today there was a geological event taking place there. The village is on top of a 120ft cliff and the beach below is covered in lots of different pebbles. People were on hand to identify them and tell you about them.

We found some lovely ones, I wet them before I took the photo, they look much better that way!  Lottie was very good. There were a few folk down on the shore with dogs and children and she was well behaved! Mostly!

A long climb back up to the road and, although it had been lovely and sunny on the beach, it started to rain just as we reached the van. Drove in to St Cyrus and a lovely, quiet, peaceful site for the night.
