Peak Forest Canal

We were up bright and early in the Portland Canal Basin. Annie made a quick dash out for some breakfast pastries before we got underway and started our navigation of the Peak Forest Canal. We made good progress along a long lock free stretch before climbing a flight of 16 locks in very quick succession. We then followed the "upper" section all the way to the terminus at Whaley Bridge this evening. Along the way we saw plenty of birdlife including several herons. A long but lovely day in the sunshine, fish and chips (or veggie alternatives) were the selected choice for dinner.

Lots of great photo opportunities from the boat when we weren't in the locks, I liked the green of this view and the walker in the bridge.

p.s. thanks for the love for yesterday's kingfisher.
