Watching

It was our last full day on the canal boat today. We had an early start to get near the front of the queue to navigate the 16 locks at Marple. It was easier going down than up as the water levels were better than a couple of days ago. Once down we crossed the Marple aqueduct and pottered on along the rest of the Peak Forest Canal. We've enjoyed a good selection of bird life in the past few days but today was heron day as we saw several. This one wasn't remotely bothered by us passing so it wasn't too tricky to get a good photo.

Late afternoon we arrived back at the Portland Basin where we are mooring tonight before delivering our boat back to the owners early tomorrow morning.
