Before and After #2

This little Barbados cherry has grown out everywheres, and thickened up a bit.The photo on the left is the before  picture.  The long runners were growing through the tray the pot sat on.
The photo on the right is after: 1. a haircut, 2. wiring.
It still looks a bit weedy, but with this species you have to be careful not to over cut on plant.  It needs enough leaves to generate sugars and recover.  Cherry's can be very sensitive.
I also wired the branch down.  It has thicken and developed character.  I wired it down and to the right, encouraging it to see if a cascade style  would work here.   The wire is a bit heavy because the branch is a bit heavy.
Then the plant was pulled from the pot, to find a heavy mass of roots growing round and round.  It was actually choking any further growth.  I trimmed the roots off, pulled a few more out, trimmed, then added soil and put the plant back into the pot.   It was the equivalent of a partial repotting.
So goes a bonsai project!
