DAY 9 - CRETE

Lazy start.
#Gyros by the port.
#Rather like a land train ride
####loving the architecture. So varied and lots of it being restored. Sadly the arch is the last city gate of 4 standing as the others were demolished for cars!!!!!!!
#Got too hot (31 degrees) so we sort shelter and cool in the city gardens…beautiful and the noise of the cicadas ….we played games (shut the box) in the cool of a cafe.
#after a siesta we went to explore the fortress. It was 6pm but still very warm. Again lots of restoration work happening.
# this is the roof inside the mosque…not what we expected.
Our evening meal was an unplanned fine dining experience…(the taverna just looked nice but once we were seated?!?) but it was really really delicious and the service was fabulous especially with The Revs allergies … worth every €!
