The Eel Pie Pub, Twickenham

Went for a quick cycle ride to Twickenham then along the Thames and then back on the other side before it got too busy with walkers/ strollers! Passed lots of iconic buildings on this little route…Eel Pie Pub as in the blip is very near Eel Pie Island, hence the name. Eel Pie Island was named due to popularity of the pies served to the day tripping Londoners who would come down by paddle steamer to the old Eel Pie Island Hotel. The island became a haven for musicians in the 1950’s - jazz and then in the 1960’s rock and roll. Rod Stewart, the Rolling Stones and Eric Clapton  all Played there. The pub is popular with both rugby fans and musicians. Next weekend there is going to be a sort of festival based around Church Street Twickenham called the ‘High Tide’ festival.
I also passed Orleans House( a gallery run by the London Borough of Richmond), Marble Hill House ( English Heritage) and Ham House ( NT).
