Tomorrow will be a Good Day

I am currently reading this book and finding it interesting as it is also a sort of History of the last 100 years in Britain not just an autobiography. Tom recounts how things were in Yorkshire in his youth, then his war service etc. 
I started reading the book as it was on the bookshelf in a holiday house we stayed in so have now borrowed it from the library. 
I’ve learnt lots about what happened with the British Army in India in WW2 as that’s where Tom mainly served. Before being called up he was very keen on motorbikes and when in the army was much in demand for his mechanical and technical skills ending up training others how to drive and maintain tanks at Bovington in Dorset.  He gained the four medals shown in the photo. 
Also interesting to hear that he was entertained by Vera Lynn and also that he came back to the U.K. on a plane with  Joyce Grenfell who had also been entertaining the troops!
