Calliandra seed pod

Today was so windy that taking photos of anything other than a solid structure was challenging. Then quite late in the afternoon I went to see what I could find in the more sheltered side passage and I found this spent seed pod on the potted calliandra tree.

Calliandras are native to tropical and subtropical regions of the Americas which explains why they're all over Darwin. They have delicate stameny, fluffy flowers in various shades of pink and red. I love them.

Thanks for hosting JDO. Stay well all.
