Large Bristle Fly

These brutes are bigger than a blowfly. They are very bristly.


The song has ended…

Yesterday I found the bellbird lying dead in the grass. For two years he’s been a regular visitor to my garden, attracted by the nectar from my flowers and the sugar water I put out for the waxeyes. He sang for his supper in glorious song. He was my favourite bird and he gave me much joy. I buried him in a big earthenware pot with a cabbage tree seedling.
