When the electricians worked there last week, the flower bed next to our door got reduced to a sad little desert, with the dead and trampled remains of old asters, hollyhocks and campanulas.

So today, after accompanying my mother to her GP this morning (for her Covid-19 booster jab, among other things), I drove to a garden centre and bought some colourful perennials for our front garden. In spring, I will plant some more, but at least it's no longer looking desolate now.

It was a lovely day for a bit of gardening, but I am always wary of looming deadlines and also worked in the office for a while. The cats stayed with me and slept, completely relaxed - see extra.
