Painted Lady

At last this summer I caught up with a more complete painted lady, down by the canal (previous version here).  The background's less pretty, but at least the wings are not shredded.  Of course I had the wrong camera with me so had to creep up on this one.  I've never been so close to a butterfly (about 15cms).  It was down on the path, so I was down there too.  If anyone saw me they must have thought me bonkers!

Dear blippers, I'm turning my comments off - probably just for tonight - as I got up for a sunrise (no chance, thick mist) and haven't stopped since.  Of course stars and hearts will be sprinkled, but I feel deeply in need of sleep ;)
