Friday Walk

P was given a "day off" from painting today so we went for a longer walk around the forest then south to Pale Heights, the highest point around here at a grand 176m. The first extra shows Black Lake, designated a SSSI as it's a quaking bog, with a layer of sphagnum moss floating on the water & covering quite a large proportion of the lake. The main image is one of the dragonflies which kept circling & posing briefly on the bench by the lake. It's possibly a black darter - they're certainly listed as being recorded there.

The final extra is the structure on Pale Heights - the path spirals around & there are plaques which name features to be seen in the distance, e.g. Jodrell Bank, the power station at Runcorn, etc.
