The Wilderness #2

We made our last visit to the FIL's house today as the sale is scheduled to complete on Monday. We read the meters and then handed the keys into the estate agent.

The garden is looking a touch more wild than on our previous visit but I am sure the new owners will get it sorted out. We left them a few photos of the house from years gone by. There was a lovely one of the garden. I wanted to write on the back 'this is what it looks like underneath'.

The journey up to Castle Bromwich wasn't the best. There was a long hold up at Stow and we we had to do a U turn at one point near the house due to a huge jam caused by cars queuing for Morrisons petrol.

We had a fish and chips picnic for lunch, if you can count sitting on a rug in the car in Morrisons car park as a picnic. I had great trouble buying ketchup in the fish and chip shop. Mrsfb came to my rescue by translating my request as 'tomato sauce' which was immediately understood.

In the afternoon we drove on to Streetly to see one of mrsfb's old college friends. We hadn't seen her for years, so it was great to catch up. There were hugs involved.

Driving across Birmingham we saw lots of long queues for petrol or in some cases signs saying 'no petrol'. We came home via the M5 and there was no fuel at the services. I was so glad I filled up yesterday.
