Whitley Bay Beach (and James)

Mr C went to Sainsbury in Alnwick this morning for our first big food shop since before going on our trip. There were big queues at the pumps but we had enough to get us to get us to Whitley Bay this afternoon. Our nearest filling station is 15 miles away so I warned Jo who is driving from York tomorrow not to expect to be able to fill up near us.

We picked up the boys from school. James says they are studying the Romans in history but he was more interested in telling me about a new creature recently discovered in the Mariana Trench in the Pacific. (He’d been to the Hancock museum with his mum at the weekend when Thomas was having a day out with Cubs.). Thomas says he’s doing Saxons and Scots in History.

We went to the beach where they played for a while and then they collected drift wood to carry home. Their mum had just got home from work so we had a chat before Mr C bought the boys Scampi and Chips for tea. Daughter and I had child portions of fish and chips - even Mr C failed to finish his adult portion. When daughter left to walk the boys to Beavers and Cubs at 6 we went home. We hope to make it before it gets dark.
