Into the East Neuk

Woke up to heavy rain this morning which continued for a large part of the journey to Edinburgh. A pretty unpleasant drive on the spray-filled M9. After lunch with Daughter Two we set off for Fife, crossing the new Forth Bridge and winding our way down to the coastal route, where we suffered another bout of heavy rain.

Arrived at our holiday let in Anstruther, pronounced Anster by the locals, and having dumped our bags went out for a wander round the town. Full of quaint alleyways and traditional buildings with their crow-stepped gables as in this Blip - no Photoshop here for straightening verticals!  Very windy - we won't be sitting out for dinner tonight! Some lovely late sun which lit up the buildings and gave us wonderful views over the Firth of Forth to the conical hill of Berwick Law (see extra) and the rugged Isle of May. I would have liked to take a boat trip out there, but not in this wind!

According to the forecast the rest of the week is to be wet and windy! Yum!
