On top of the world

After yesterday’s horrible weather today was perfect for walking so Mr C dropped Jo and me off at the forest car park. From there we walked up through the woods, up the red road (where James gets bored legs) to the steep climb to the top of Simonside. It was quite windy and very busy - obviously some people had plenty fuel as one man we spoke to said he’d come from Whitley Bay. We had to stand aside to let a group of lads doing the D of E rush past. Their young male teacher was more puffed than we were.

The views from the top were spectacularly clear - north to the Cheviots, west to Harwood Forest, south the horizon where the city would be, and east to the sea. We walked along the ridge.

It was such a nice day we headed over to the Neolithic Cup and Ring Marks then downhill by Whitton Glebe and Sharpe’s Folly into the village. We did over 7.5 miles.

After a cup of tea Mr C drove Jo to Alnwick where her friend picked her up to take her to Newton by the sea. We’ve had such an enjoyable time.

I rushed to make a veg curry for Katy and Colin who are coming at 6.30.

Daughter is gradually feeling less tired. We are picking up the children from school tomorrow and taking them to the park.
