And we’re off

Scotland trip day one Melrose

Woke at 6 o’clock and it was raining, not a great start for  our trip. By 7.30 it had started to brighten up and when we left at 9 am it was a lovely sunny day.

We made really good time and arrived at Melrose just after 1 o’clock. After a quick sandwich (sitting outside in the sun)  we headed into Jedburgh a wonderful historic town, where we visited the castle and the jail and then the abbey, sadly both closed for the day.

We returned to the site and settled down with a glass of of wine and a lovely dinner.

Tomorrow we go to Hawick to have lunch with my family.
